Celebrating Julia Child: Restaurant Week Style

This week Washington, DC is buzzing with fun and deals.  Many of our favorite restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week.  For $20.12 you can enjoy a three-course lunch or for $35.12 a three-course dinner.  This excludes beverage, gratuity and tax.  It’s a nice excuse to break away from the office and spend time catching up with friends and colleagues.   Chef Ris Lacoste incorporated this year’s celebration of Julia Child’s 100th birthday into her Restaurant Week menu.  Julia Child’s remarkable influence on US cooking made French food more accessible.  She wrote cookbooks and had her own cooking shows and gave us confidence to try new cooking techniques.

The food at Ris was delicious and the atmosphere sophisticated.  Restaurant Week can be hectic, but our server was calm and service was delightful.  There were four in our party.  I tried the Moules Marinière (mussels) as my starter and the Sole Meunière (lemon sole) as my main course.  For dessert I had the Salty Turtle Sundae.  Will certainly check this restaurant out again.

You have a few more days to get out and about for Restaurant Week.
